When Christ comes, the old passes away, and we become a new Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we deal with hidden things that prevent our growth. There is a psychology, a Christian one, which we can refer as clinical theology, progressive sanctification, meaning the rooting out of strongholds and planting of the new life. We receive the authority and power of God, which comes to us as a result of Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection.
